Katy

Yesterday I went to one of my favorite "secret place" to hunt for insects images. It's not very secret, it's just that nobody ever has reasons to go there, unless if looking for a very quiet place harboring a few insects species. I really like to be alone when shooting, it allows me to totally immerse myself into sometimes quite unusual world.

It was so quiet that even insects were scarce. That's when I heard something "big" flying by me and landing in a small pine tree, it was a female Katydid. I named her Katy.

Her two colors eyes gives her very different "facial expressions" depending on the angle the shots were taken.

I had a hard time trying to fit her whole self in one frame, resulting in what I like to call "identification shots."

Thanks Heike ! Yeah, #2 is also my favorite. I just wish I could get a better focus so the effect would be better. I'm still having lots of trouble getting a sharp shallow focus on macro shots...
