Day 6/365

This photograph was taken in frozen Sioux City, Iowa in 2009. That winter was filled mostly with an incredible blizzard. We were snowed into our apartment over Christmas vacation. The snow drifts were mountainous, wind chill was -25 and below for most of the winter. Ice storms covered the entire town in a sheet of ice at least an inch thick while the snow drifts scaled 10 ft high. Even when the sun shone through it was a hoax because the temperature never rose. Walking was a major task and driving was even more dangerous. It was INSANE for this California girl... but it was also beautiful. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. This is one of my absolute favorite photos of that winter.

All to be reborn when the mystics of winter gave way to the flow of the eternal cycle of the seasons. Spring did come with it's green beauty but the memory of this winter lives on.
