The Base

Oak Branches

Day 44/365

At the base of all decisions

rising up beyond the crest

seeming quest and disillusions

very oftentimes oppressed

Rising up beyond the crest

perspective here is at its finest

very oftentimes oppressed

fight the urge embrace the highness

Perspective here is at its finest

scaling forth control impatience

fight the urge embrace the highness

let each foothold drive tenacious

Rising through the time faced challenge

seeming quest and disillusions

branches plentiful with knowledge

At the base of all decisions.

Pantoum

(My first attempt at a poem of this style. Hopefully it's not terrible for you to read! =D)

A pantoum is a poem that uses a lot of repetition. To create this poem, follow these steps.

  • Write a quatrain (4 line stanza). Writing emotional lines usually works best.
  • Take lines 2 and 4 of the first stanza and make them lines 1 and 3 of the second stanza.
  • Take lines 2 and 4 of the second stanza and make them lines 1 and 3 of the third stanza.
  • Continue your poem using this pattern.
  • For your last stanza, go back to the first stanza of the poem. Make line 3 of the first stanza line 2 of your last. Make line 1 of the first stanza line 4 in your last.

Ufffffff. I didn't know poems could be so tied up in rules.

I know. This one wasn't pleasant. Think I'll go back to free verse for awhile.
