It was Parks Day in Canada today; all the admissions to Canada's national parks and historic sites were free! So, we headed to the nearest national park which is Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier. Unfortunately, we were told that this park is not part of Parks Canada, but a Parcs Quebec National Park! Then, why call it “national” instead of “provincial”?! Hmm… interesting huh? We drove to KM10 where the visitor center is as we planned to pay for the entrance fee. Over there, we noticed that people come here for kayaking and canoeing for about 27km down the Jacques-Cartier River. Since we managed to take pictures here at the visitor center, we decided not to proceed as the rest of the park mainly has this same feature that we saw here. We returned to Quebec City. See… it's even called “capitale nationale”! We felt like we were in a different country. We went to check out the Montmorency Falls and paid for the cable car ride. Taking the cable car ride to see the falls from up there, on the suspension bridge. View from our cable car. Manoir Montmorency in the background. Beautiful rainbow near the falls. A nice view of Île d'Orléans Bridge, that connects a borough in Quebec City to Orleans Island. Kids bought ice cream near the Manoir Montmorency. We continued walking towards the suspension bridge. A spectacular view from here. You can also opt to climb those hundreds of steps for a totally different experience. Not for us under this hot weather! Montmorency Falls, at 84m high, are the highest in the province of Quebec and 30m higher than Niagara Falls :P On the suspension bridge, above the Montmorency Falls. A breathtaking view from the suspension bridge! View of Orleans Island and the bridge, from the suspension bridge too. Well, I could not describe the sound of water falls from up here! We enjoyed our lil' picnic at the park up there and went on the other side to see the Falls from the top of the stairs. Err… I could not stand there for long! … trying hard not to look down the stairs! Heh! The Falls are just gorgeous from any angle! We could also see Quebec City skyline. We were back on the suspension bridge and boarded the cable car down to the visitor center. We walked to the bottom of the Falls from the visitor center as the boys wanted to feel the mist :) The suspension bridge is so tiny from here! We felt the mist on our face… even the camera was misty :P Check out the boys! They went to the closest spot from this platform to get soaked. Heh! So wet! They felt good to get soaked in this summer weather! Hey, we were up there on the suspension bridge! It was a wise decision to come to this place.. we had fun and enjoyed the spectacular views of Montmorency Falls from various angles.
