and then...

My grandson came into the world just the other day. It was hot and slightly humid as it has been here in the Coachella Valley. I remember the first sight of my son, my baby, my youngest son as he walked in to tell me that "he" was here. This would be shoot of a life time for this moment, at least for me. Could I do this without crying? Could I maintain my composure? This is actually my second grandchild. My first grandson lives in Michigan. So, I should be able to handle this even I was not there for the birth of my first one, but still. So, when I walked to the hallway, camera in hand, I lost it. He was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. Perfect in every way. He was all covered up in the incubator. My son standing there looking so proud. I could barely focus my camera. I forgot to change my settings. So many of my shots were bad. The nurse then moved my grandson to the recovery room while they waited for the mother to come out of OR as she had a C-Section. It had been a wonderful morning and experience. My husband, who is now a Grandfather, step-grandfather, as you will to be proper, was able to bond with my step-granddaughter. I was able to get to know my daughter-in-law (even though they aren't married, I consider her like a daughter now). This was such a lovely experience for all. So blessed to have made it around the sun to experience this little moment in my life and the life of my child and capture it for him and his new family.

Welcome to the world baby Ben and congratulations to my son and his little family!

One of the first out of focus shots of my grandson. I had not change the white balance or ISO settings...ugh! Amateur mistakes....

It's almost as if the baby knows that his big sister is watching him from behind the glass.

This picture looks more ominous than it really is but this is just normal in the care of a newborn. My son is in the background watching over his son.

I watched in awe as the nurses did their daily dance of newborn care so effortlessly. I envied their jobs and wished I could for one day be them.

The hunger starts early! Boys, will be boys and this means, they will take things apart, and try to figure out how they work, or what dirt tastes like because after all it is brown and chocolate is brown, right?

The first feeding. Again, I held it together but it was hard. I remember feeding my son for the first time and his little fingers wrapped around my fingers.

Welcome to the world little one!
Welcome to photoblog - nice to have a fellow Coachella Valley member.
I cannot wait for them to fix the clinch with the new update, I have not been able to post since 8/1. I am like a junkie who has lost their fix. LOL- I have been a daily poster and am having withdrawals. I will have so much to catch up on.

Hello Lisa,

Thank you!  I am so glad to have found this site. I am three years new to this area and still trying to find my way!  Yeah, I had posted other things to this post but when I was all finished and published it, everything was gone.  So, I hear you on the glitches.  Hope you are able to post soon.  So glad to have found a neighbor :)
