Cemetery Cross at Moonrise Vaughn, NM

We enjoy the evocative beauty of cemeteries. This shot was taken in August 2017 in Vaughn at sunset, while the full moon slowly rose in the distance. Summer sunsets in New Mexico are dramatic by nature, but we literally pulled off the freeway to capture this one, as the moon made it that much lovelier. The cemetery was the only spot off of the exit, and it turns out, the best possible one.

Thank you, Bernice Sanchez (a nearly Centenarian mother and grandmother who was clearly loved and very much missed), for allowing us to sit with her at her final resting place and watch the end of a day and the dawn of a peaceful evening.
