Vallecitos, NM

Vallecitos (named after the Spanish word for "small valley") is an unincorporated community located in Rio Arriba County, along NM-11, 22.7 miles north-northeast of Abiquiu, or 14 miles north-northwest of Ojo Caliente.

Aside from the post office, there is a community center, a church, an unused schoolhouse that looks as if it may be (or was) used as a private home and a library.

Vallecitos is a small community whose resources are limited and does not sustain public facilities.

Water is one of the communities most needed resources and accommodations are not currently available. It is an inconvenience because the closest public facility is in Ojo Caliente, approximately 14 miles away.

As you can see from the photos, we were just ahead of a much-needed mountain rainstorm.

Very nice Photoblog of Vallecitos NM, I am lucky to have a house right next to the Main Church #9, and we have seen a resurgence in the last 5 Years! Keep up the great work!

Oh, there probably is grinning.  We did not try it in black and white, but we certainly can. Thank you for that suggestion.
