We actually have a holiday here in the state of Rhode Island this Monday that until very recently was referred to as victory over Japan. As much as I like a paid holiday, I see nothing to celebrate here, no matter how imperfect a Buddhist I am. I remember being taught in school as a lad that many more would have died had they not done it. Perhaps. We'll never know. But as the kids might say, I can't get with that.
