New 41/365

Sometimes you find a bright, shiny penny minted in 2014 and wonder how it's stayed that way so long...lovingly sheltered away from harm.  It didn't feel right to only include the new so I went through all my coins to find the oldest penny I had as well.  I found it like a metaphor for life.  Some really newly minted pennies looking like they've lived a thousand years already and others looking much shinier for their age. I want to be like this penny....1952. Aged but in a beautiful way.   Old Abe looks much more dignified aged and weathered. I wonder about all the people who have touched this old penny...the stories it could tell.

What a great contrast. It always amazes me how much texture there is the the surface of even quite new coins when viewed at such close quarters.
