A few images from warmer, and stormier days. I went out a number of times this past year trying to get some decent storm pictures. While I got a few, nothing specular. It is difficult to get ahead of the storm and yet close enough to not to get caught in the rains or strong winds.
I have managed to get a few lightning shots over the last few years and hope to get a few more this year. I do have a lightning trigger which comes in handy when you are just sitting and waiting. Last year wasn't the best for storms but there is hope this year will be better.
This was a 3 shot composite. There were very strong winds ahead of the storm so the tree line is not as crisp as I would have liked. On the plus side, a regional bank selected it out of a competition and it is still in rotation on their displays in their ATMs. And I made enough money to pay for a new lens.
Perhaps "After the storm" would have been a better title. We had a specular storm that was unexpected and as much as I tried, I couldn't quite get ahead of the storm but rather in it. This was on the return trip, just before home.
Another quick moving storm that I mostly missed at a friend's farm in Alberta. There was just a couple of lightning bolts left before it petered out. I had hoped to get a better foreground of the canola.
Another quick moving storm in Alberta I managed to only get 2 shots off. The rain and hail hit just as I got there so this was taken from inside my truck. Not a great foreground.
The second shot (see above) from the same storm. As with the first, taken from my truck and without the use of a trigger as I didn't have time to set it up. The lack of a decent foreground is also obvious in this one.
