Well I Know This Little Chapel On The Boulevard We Can Go...

by Kelly Field July. 28, 2017 2021 views

Morning folks!

Weather can't make up its mind today. It pours then the sun comes out, then it pours again. Rather like it did on my wedding day but less fun as I'm sat at my desk and not meeting elephants at the zoo.

I managed to get a nice shot of the Gatehouse where I got married, a few weeks ago and forgot to post it up. The vintage TV buffs among you might recognise the gates in the background. Answers on a postcard if you know which show they were featured in.

>^.^<

Update: No guesses yet? I'm disappointed people...

Need a clue? I'm having porridge for breakfast.

>^.^<

Update: Still no guesses? No vintage tv fans? Oh well, may as well tell you then. The gates are featured in the opening credits of Porridge, a prison comedy with Ronnie Barker as Norman Stanley Fletcher. Now you know.

My first response: "Hheeeyyy, how'd ya make rounded corners!?" LOL... Then: "I really like the balance in the picture." haha... The building is just beautiful - I'm fascinated at the windows. They aren't identical from side to side. It definitely creates interest in the photo.

It's one of the presets in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I think the balance was using the'Antique' preset. Given the age of the place and it's former use I thought it made a cool effect. I'm very new to Photoshop and Lightroom (and to post-processing in general), so I'm still learning what most of the features do. Xx

Hey fantastic! This preset worked really well for your image. I just installed "Darktable" which is the open-source version of Lightroom, I have heard. So I watched my first YouTube on using it last night. LOL I'm a little intimidated, but if I can round my corners, it'll be worth it. Haha.. satisfied

Not heard of Darktable or I'd have given it a look before I paid for Adobe. I tried Corel Aftershot but I couldn't get my head around it so I'd been learning the basics with Google Picasa.

You know, Picasa, I need to look at that again too.  Thanks for the reminder. I've been using GIMP to lighten my images, but I think the Darktable will give me more options, possibly - I'll find out. But Darktable processes RAW images too, which I never shoot in, but I might now since I installed the software for processing. LOL

Google doesn't support Picasa anymore but you can still download the .exe from a few places.
I've just started shooting in RAW myself, it's nice how much more editability it gives you.
