The View From My Bathtub

Morning folks!

I've taken steps to reconnect with my photography, those of you who've been following have probably noticed I haven't done much since Freyr crash landed into our lives. I love him to bits but it's hard to walk and take pictures at the same time, especially since he mangled one of my fingers (will it ever be fixed?). So on Saturday we took a road trip out to Inner Wolf in Leicestershire (long car journey for me and the IBS monster) and picked up a Hurtta Hiking Belt. It's basically a padded belt that hikers and canicross users wear to attach their dogs to, leaving their hands free. It also has some elastic in it to reduce the jolt from sudden pulls.

Yesterday we tried it out while taking our first walk of the year in the Ashridge Estate. Not trying to sound like an advert here but it was brilliant! The little stinkweed can pull and pull and there was no pain in my back, neck or shoulders, no fear he was going to get loose and if I wanted to drop his lead to do something, I could. So here's to finding a solution to combined dog walking/picture taking and to hopefully being back out with the dslr soon.

P.S. This isn't the actual view from my bath (I wish), I just happened to be in the bath while I edited the picture and wrote this post.

A couple taking in the views at Ashridge.

I quit taking my camera on hikes with my kids for the same reason. I wonder if your belt idea would work for a 3 year old... 🤔
Hi I'm new here. I like the narrative and personal nature of your posts.

Hi Kevin, welcome to Photoblog.
It's worth a try. You used to see kids wearing lead reins when I was younger. I don't see why you couldn't attach them to a hiking or canicross belt so you can be hands free (in safe places obviously). X
