Some Changes

These are probably not interesting to many save my mom and grandma, but I thought I'd post anyway. We decided to convert our “grandma room” into our tv room instead of having it downstairs in the living room. I wanted a formal sitting room downstairs because I am sick to death of having the kids' toys down there. Now, the kids have no reason to come sit in the living room and bring every toy downstairs. They've got a great playroom upstairs. :P

It's obviously not finished downstairs or up, but this is what we've got so far. Now, you'll have to excuse the major wall eye-sore. It's a result of Hurricane Ike, and we are still waiting on even getting our roof fixed (headache!) so that will come after that. Anyway, above the buffet, we are going to put a big mirror. It will be a plain rectangle one without a frame, that actually came from my in-law's bathroom. (thanks mom, for the idea! Awesome that they have THREE lying around too!) I might do some glass etching around the edges, but that's to be decided. I'm going to have to actually arrange the flowers in that tall vase and I'll be making runners for both table. We'll also (finally) be getting a rug. Then I think it will be pretty close to done. I'd like to get a painting or a big family portrait for above the fireplace too. We'll see how that goes. lol

In the grandma room right now we've only painted. We'll be putting in a chest of drawers from Catherine and Roy where the tv will sit. We're going to get a little table for under the window as well. I moved my sewing machine into the closet (it's a small walk in) and all my scrapbook stuff is in there as well. I love having it all out of the way and neat. :D

That's it!

First Blush

Ugh, the paint above the buffet is SO annoying. It will all be fixed soon.

I love the color in here. It's called “Sculpted Stone”. It looks almost tan when you just look at it, but it's got a green undertone.

Please excuse the “lazy Sunday” looking husband. He'd probably die if he knew I posted this.

I really like the idea of the Grandma/TV room. That is a way of keeping the toys and stuff up stairs, GREAT idea. Now I must say, the handsome model on the couch looks good. That is the only way I get to see him, in pictures LOL The living room looks nice and after you get done it will be beautiful! A great place to have coffee/tea and visit.

In the formal sitting room, we have the couch sitting under the window right now, as the entertainment center is on the right wall. We'll be selling that at the garage sale in a couple weeks, though. Then, I'm not sure if we'll even have anything in front of the window. It's kind of nice when it's open.

I like the way the living room is arranged, and it will be nice to once again have that coffee table in there. What do you have in the formal living room under the window where that once was? I like the grandma room. It's a nice subtle color. Hey, is Bryan sitting on my "bed"? It's so nice to have a walk in like you have, cause it's perfect for sewing, and crafting. No mess, just shut the door!!
