Panama life to me is definitely like "a box of chocolates" to quote Forrest Gump.
Each day is filled with a surprise or three, but in a good way. Once you realise that you need to be (1) patient with yourself especially when living in a new country, and then (2) patient with others - then life becomes a lot simpler. Each day we learn new words and new ways, which makes our lives in Panama that must easier and simpler. Every day we are reminded how kind and helpful people can be even though there may be a language barrier (thankfully each day we learn more and more Panamanian Spanish which is a great help). It is an amazing to drive or walk down our village roads and be able to greet and wave to everyone you meet, regardless of being strangers. It feels old worldly to me, perhaps this is what it was like for my Mum growing up in the 40's and 50's, or perhaps this is what the world is supposed to be like? Simpler, slower and kinder to people, animals and all creatures that live around us.
Panama gives you a chance to rethink a lot of things - how we eat, sleep, dress, think and work. Living here has rebooted our systems and given us a fresh perspective on many things. So often during the day, we hear ourselves saying look at the bird, look at the beautiful green house, look at those smiles and many more.
Something which I read today which definitely rang true : " Patience is the key to paradise." - Proverb.
Wishing you and your family a beautiful Easter filled with happiness !
Much Love, Fleetingtime
