We all want to give back to our communities but we don't always have the spare money to do so.

Here are a few ways to help in other ways:

  1. Donate your old clothes to churches or recycle hubs.
  2. Help to clean up parks, roads, beaches, etc.
  3. Provide a mentorship programme as part of your business - share your knowledge.
  4. Offer your services free to a few chosen charities per year.
  5. Volunteer at homeless shelters
  6. Lend your hands at soup kitchens.
  7. Recycle your trash.
  8. Volunteer at pet shelters - even walking the dogs is a huge help.
  9. Donate blood or plasma.
  10. Help promote and support your small local businesses.
  11. Be aware of those in need in your building or community.
  12. Be kind to others.
  13. Offer a smile to others.
  14. Help your own family.
  15. Assist with yard sales.
  16. Volunteer at schools/senior centres/hospitals/etc.
  17. Coach little league sports teams.
  18. Tutor someone.
  19. Serve on your community board.
  20. Do something nice for your local police station or fire fighter - a muffin basket goes a long way to lift spirits.
  21. Help to paint or beautify your neighbourhood.
  22. Create a neighbourhood garden (after gaining permission).
  23. A random act of kindness to a neighbour or stranger.
  24. Assist with fundraisers.
  25. Don't litter.
  26. Drive courteously.
  27. Help a child or orphanage in need.
  28. Plant a tree.
  29. Build a curbside library or food pantry in your garden.
  30. Reconnect with an old friend.
  31. Donate old (but working) computer equipment to your community centre or someone who desperately needs it.
  32. Offer to babysit for a friend.
  33. Adopt a flowerbed to upkeep in your area.
  34. Spend time with friends and family (without your cell phone at your side).
  35. Write a thank you note to your parents, friends or someone that deserves the thanks.
  36. Be a muse for someone.
  37. Vote during voting times.
  38. Share only good news on social media.
  39. Think before you speak.
  40. Watch your nearest parking metre to help someone out as a random act of kindness.

We are in this world together. There is always something that can be done to make it a better place. Whether big or small, every bit of kindness helps.

If there is anything missing on this list, please leave a comment below. I would love to hear from you.

Stay Fabulous!
