If you have ever driven through Nebraska you will know that in any direction you travel you will see farmland.
One day, in June, while driving back from Grand Island I came across this farmer ploughing his fields near Rosedale. As I waited for him to make his next pass, I thought it sure would be nice to get a picture of him with his monster John Deere.
As he was making his turn I waved at him with my camera and gave a big, cheerful grin. He waved and pulled over to where I was parked. As he opened the cab door and stepped out I walked toward him and asked if I could have his permission to take his picture. He agreed and posed.
Several days later I took him a framed 8x10 picture and a couple of 5x7's. He could not believe it. As he thanked me he asked if I would be interested in seeing something. He then gave me a tour of his huge barn and explained how a planter worked and several other pieces of farm equipment.
Photography is not just about you. Show a little kindness and give someone a picture you took of them. You will be surprised at the opportunities you will have to make someone's day!
Thank God for farmers!
