52 Week Dogwood Photo Challenge. Week 15 - Artistic/Metal.

This is the Grand Trunk Western steam locomotive RR No. 8374. On Highway 81 & Country Road L between Fairmont and Geneva, NE. She was built in Sept 1929 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works, which was originally located in Philadelphia, and later moved to nearby Eddystone, Pennsylvania. The BLW was one of three big locomotive builders during the steam era.

Forgotten & neglected this little switch locomotive has watched the world pass it by for over 20 years. In 2005 the GTW 8374 was bought by an individual from Nebraska, and has plans to cosmetically restore her for display in his home state. GTW 8374 has now been assembled but awaits further restorative work.

Thought I would post her in four different moods.

Came across this gem a few years back while passing through. I stopped to take photos and got to talk with the owner. We couldn't stay long but got some great shots. I'm going to make place to visit this year.  It's only 3 1/2 hours from Wichita ,KS.  Enjoyed viewing your images.  Jack Powers [email protected]

Hello Jack and thank you for the kind remarks! We used to live in Hastings, NE, until Oct. 2017 when we moved to Colorado. That was an interesting train and you are the first person to comment on the pics! Hope you get to make the trip again and get some great shots of it! Kind regards, JP Escalera
