Heading to the market.

Being a food lover, Tsukiji had been on my list for quite awhile. Once I heard it was destined to move to a new site in Toyosu, I had to make sure I got to experience it while I still could. While I wasn't able to get up early enough to experience the tuna auction, I was there plenty early to see the morning hustle and bustle. I started with the outer market and worked my way into the inner sanctum.

While the outer market is still there in Tsukiji and I highly recommend a visit, the inner market was where all the action was!

You could feel the history and the atmosphere was so raw and exciting. This is definitely one of the only places I have been to in Japan where I felt like I was in the way most of the time, and the ubiquitous Japanese politeness did not seem to apply.

I hope you enjoyed this little trip through Tsukiji.
