While in Calgary, friends took us for a visit to the Bar U Ranch south of town. The Bar U Ranch was established in 1882, it was one of the foremost ranching operations in Canada and one of a small group of large corporate ranches in western Canada. This National Historic Site uses a living history approach to present the ranching industry. Here, a team of horses waits to pull visitors to the main camp.

Near the camp, a lasso is hung over the log frame of the cook tent.

At the end of a work day, ropes and saddles are removed from the horses.

As we take shelter in the stable, these Halifax horses seem unconcerned about the pounding rain.

A covered wagon is highlighted by the sun with menacing skies as a backdrop

"Cowboy Coffee" is brewed over an open fire and served to those guests lucky enough to be sitting around the campfire.
#4 Love the shot you took of these three horses!
Thank you for sharing with all of us.
