Snow Day

Unlike the rest of Canada, it doesn't snow much where we live in Victoria. So, when we get snow it's a big deal for us and we tend to whine about it to our country mates, who don't really offer any empathy as they struggle through their -30 Celsius temperatures. We got some record snowfalls this week that shut schools for 3 days (only on the west coast could this happen) but didn't prevent us from getting out and enjoying the weather. Here are some photos that I took as my wife and I walked the 3.5 km (2.2 miles) chip trail around the golf course near our house.

Our first views of the golf course were across the 18th fairway. It’s snowing pretty steady as we set off on the walk.

Not to be outdone by the ducks, kids enjoyed the snow as well. This and the next photo show enthusiastic sledders making the best of the blowing snow. They seemed to have fun but remember – they got the day(s) off from school.

Nice set, Greg ! I love #3. It's so shining. #1 looks like a painting and the ducks don't look very lucky.smile We didn't had much snow here near Frankfurt, but in the south (Bavaria) was a lot of snow-chaos this year. And you won't believe it, but this weekend we will have 15°C (plus). smile Spring is knocking on the door here !

Thanks Heike. Photo #3 was my first attempt at soft focus. I used the NIK collection to achieve the look. I'm not sure yet that I like it. Yes, climate change is real, 15C in mid winter Frankfurt is proof enough. Pull out your summer clothes......anguished
