These are my earliest photos, taken when an art student in 1979 on a college trip to Paris. The Pompidou Centre had recently opened and I had read about it and it was top of my list for places to see. Some parts of the building were still not open to the public. I was knocked out by it. It was like Science Fiction. The nearby Les Halles had also been redeveloped which I believe has since been redeveloped again. I hand developed the film and hand printed the photos in the bathroom of my rented shared student house using a borrowed enlarger. It was the one and only time I did that at home.
At that time the world seemed a very big place and Paris exotic and far away.
