All quiet on the pit straight

It's been such a gloriously sunny day here today that it seemed a crime not to get outside to take some photos. I had very limited time this afternoon so I popped up to the motor circuit at Goodwood to see if there was anything going on there. There are events on at the circuit most days so I was surprised to find it completely silent. Aside from a couple of men repairing part of the track I had the place to myself so I took the opportunity to take some shots of the pit straight from on track without the risk of getting run over. It was quite eerie seeing the place so quiet, it's usually such a lively and noisy place when we're there.

After a while one of the track marshals came out of his office to see what I was up to and we got talking. While we were chatting the circuit's resident robin appeared in the pitlane. Apparently he's a bit of celebrity at the track and often pops into the marshals' room for food. He's a very friendly little chap and was more than happy to come close enough for me to take some reasonable shots. Apparently the circuit is home to quite a lot of wildlife - two buzzards, the odd weasel, lots of rabbits and a white cat which comes in from a local house to hunt the smaller fry living behind the tyre barriers. Who'd have thought there would be so much wildlife in a place which is full of fast cars and noise 265 days a year!
