Today was the fifth birthday of the Phoenix Recorder Orchestra, one of the groups I regularly play with in Cheltenham. To celebrate the occasion we had a playing day with lots of guest players to try out a new symphony written by one of our contrabass players, Steve Marshall. Shirley, one of the other orchestra members made this rather handsome birthday cake and we celebrated by lighting the candles and singing ‘Happy Birthday’ at teatime. I can confirm that the cake tasted as wonderful as it looks and a good time was had by all! Happy birthday to all Phoenicians and here's to the next five years!
