Botanical delights

I spent most of today at the RHS garden at Wisley in Surrey, taking photos of anything floral that stood still for long enough in between gusts of wind. I??ve usually had success with a particular type of flower each time I??ve visited Wisley. I had expected to shoot lots of tulips today (they had a fantastic display when I visited in mid-April 2007) but in the end I barely found a single one. Instead I found my most successful shots were of different types of daisies today. I??ve posted my favourites from the day here, including one notable shot which is very definitely not a flower! I encountered Sunny when I visited last May, although he was a tad more active last time. Today he was very definitely in lazy mode, enjoying the sunshine in the middle of one of the alpine beds ?? although he was very happy to wake up for long enough to enjoy a good tickle under the chin!

The Millennium Glasshouse, opened in 2007. I liked the way the criss-crossing vapour trails against the blue sky echoed the lines of the glasshouse.

The structure of the veins on this leaf caught my eye as I wandered inside the Glasshouse.

Sunny enjoying a lazy moment in the warm spring sunshine.

I love the sky in #2, you'd never have guessed you were midway between two major airports!
#3 has to be my pick though (sorry), I love the way the petals create leading lines down into the centre, great framing too.
