I took an hour out this morning to drive to West Stoke to shoot the bluebells in the woods there. I??ve been meaning to do this for a while and knew if I didn??t grab the opportunity today I would probably miss the best of the colour. I wasn??t disappointed ?? there was a carpet of blue covering the forest floor as far as the eye could see. I had hoped for some dappled sunlight this morning but the sky refused to clear until this afternoon. In the end though it didn??t matter too much as the soft, diffused light created by the clouds made for good macro conditions. I took my time, using my tripod so I didn??t have to compromise on my shutter speeds, and enjoyed searching for some good specimens to shoot up close. One tip if you are planning to do this ?? take a plastic bin liner to sit on. In the past I??ve always found myself bending into all sorts of uncomfortable positions to work with my tripod at ground level so it was great to be able to sit down on my bin liner without getting a muddy bottom!
