Return to Paradise

I popped back to Chichester Cathedral this morning to take a better look at the sculpture exhibition in Paradise (the area within the cloisters) now it has opened properly. This year??s sculptures really got my photographic juices going and I took a lot of shots, the best of which I have posted here. It??s quite hard in this setting to capture shots of complete sculptures without cluttered backgrounds or people in the frame I composed many of the shots to capture just part of the sculpture instead. I picked up a catalogue while I was there to find out some more about the various works and was surprised to find that they were virtually all for sale. The collection I have posted here is worth just under £95,000! If you are in Chichester it??s well worth visiting the exhibition (which is on until 23rd July) although you may need to take out a large loan if you intend to buy something!

A small section of Blue Largo by Peter Newsome (made of laminated and bonded glass)

Tenderness by Bernard Mcguigan (sandstone)

My old friend the lurking saxophonist!
Jazz Man by Helen Sinclair (bronze)
(See here []for his previous appearance on my blog)

This chap immediately brought a smile to my face :-)
Man With Both Pieces by Giles Penny (bronze)

In Shape by Yvonne Beecroft (bronze resin)

Girl with the Lamp of Wisdom by Nathan David (bronze)

Is it just me, or is there something Monty Pythonesque about these toes?!
Monumental Foot by Crispin Foy (reconstituted stone)

As you know I like sculpture and this is an interesting and quirky set. My favourite is the bronze girl with the lamp.

Nice work! I find it difficult to get interesting shots of sculptures - but you've captured some great details and angles!
