I got up early this morning to collect my friend Eileen from the overnight Rotterdam/Hull ferry ready for our meeting. The ferry got in at 8am so I set off in good time with my camera in the hope of finding something to shoot in the beautiful early morning light on the way there. In the end I didn??t stop en-route but Eileen??s ferry was already docking when I arrived and I liked the shapes created by the various decks against the perfect blue sky. Incidentally, in case you??re wondering about my post??s title ?? it??s supposedly the origin of the word ??posh??. It??s said that wealthy passengers on trips between England and India (journeys taken in P&O boats ?? the same company as Eileen used to cross the North Sea last night) used to request a cabin on the port side on the outwards journey and starboard on the way home so as to always be on the shady side of the boat. Whether this is actually true I have no idea but it??s a good story!
