I took a drive over to the village of Slindon this morning to take some photos of the fantastic display of pumpkins there. One of the local residents grows thousands of pumpkins and gourds each year in the grounds of his cottage and they draw in a huge number of people at this time of year to buy them. He also designs a new pumpkin picture each year which is displayed on top a shed roof overlooking the yard ?? this year it featured two butterflies. I spent a while dodging the Mums and toddlers (note to self, must remember not to visit during the school holidays next year!) to take some photos of the big display then concentrated on close-ups of the wonderful shapes and colours.
There were also a few small pumpkins on display outside the cottage??s front door so I walked around to look at these only to find a rather familiar looking cat. This rather handsome chap (who I understand is called Roger) was dozing on the table outside the cottage among the pumpkins and he??s the absolute spitting image of our Gracie, although somewhat bigger. His colouring is almost identical and he even showed the same predilections as her for have his ears tickled and his tummy rubbed. He attracted quite a lot of attention this morning and was lapping up all the fuss he could take, purring like a little Harley Davidson all the while!
