I saw these sticks of rock in the tourist information centre in Chichester as I walked back to my car yesterday and immediately knew I??d found my subject for today??s rock theme. I don??t know if this type of sweet is sold in other countries but it??s very typical of the sweets available at traditional English seaside resorts. The name of the seaside town it was bought in usually appears pressed into the layers of sugar right the way through the middle of the stick of rock. While Chichester isn??t a seaside town (although we??re only a few miles from the coast) someone at the tourist office obviously thought there would be a market for Chichester rock among the tourists and local mad photographers like yours truly!
