Experimenting with my new gadget

With impeccable timing my mobile phone decided to die on me just as I became eligible for an upgrade this week. Having seen Kevin??s identical phone die in the same way some months back I recognised the signs and quickly backed up all my photos and contacts from it on Friday. The one upside of this sudden failure was that it gave me the excuse I needed to upgrade to an iPhone this morning ??something I??ve been hankering after for some time (much to Kevin??s disappointment ?? he wanted to get one first!).

The rest of today has been occupied with a rehearsal so when I returned home this evening I still had to take my photo for the day. I tried taking a shot of the phone itself but failed to capture one I liked so I decided instead to use the phone??s camera to shoot my favourite subject of choice ?? Gracie! This must be the lowest resolution and least sharp shot I??ve ever posted on Photoblog but I think it nicely captures Gracie??s relaxed demeanour while lounging on the sofa and, considering the duff light I took it in, I think the camera acquitted itself quite well. It??s not up to DSLR standards but at least I can go to bed knowing I??ve managed to post something for today!

The Greeks say με γεἰα - loosely: "enjoy" - when someone acquires a something new, so I hope you have fun with your iPhone. I recognised image quality before I read the text! Sennheiser does a fantastic earphone+mic combo, but it's pricey. I haven't been at all impressed by any of the so-called 'photo' apps for the iPhone, but there are some great free utilities out there.
