Iridescence

I??ve been busy today preparing for a course I??m teaching on next week so I decided to delve into my button pot again for today??s photo. I tried a few extreme close ups but plumped for this simple little shot in the end ?? I thought such a simple button deserved an uncomplicated, minimalistic composition. I like the way the combination of natural light from my music room window and the large aperture (f2.8) brings out its iridescence. Every so often I do try using smaller apertures but I??ve come to the conclusion that I??m a shallow depth of field girl at heart!

Very cool. I love how you're able to find common household items and frame them to look so exquisite.

Absolutely lovely. The soft focus on the edges and the simplicity of it are so well balanced and punch out the color. Favorite!
