I stopped off for lunch at Chichester Cathedral??s café today. Although it rained first thing this morning by lunchtime it had dried up so I decided to sit outside to eat. As I sat waiting for my sandwich to arrive I was joined at my table by a rather cheeky female blackbird who was after some food. I quickly got my camera out, set it up in continuous mode and when she returned I fired off a few frames. A few minutes later, as I tucked into my lunch, I was joined by a robin who pinched a few crumbs from the table. Once again I readied my camera and when he came back for more (tempted by some cheesy morsels I left out for him) I snapped away. This chap was so brave he even hopped over and grabbed a bite direct from the edge of my sandwich!
I thought I??d also share my revelation of the day with you all ?? Lightroom 3. I downloaded a trial version of it last night (encouraged by Stefan ?? thank you for your advice) to see how it compared to version 2 and I??m pleased I did ?? the new noise reduction tool is absolutely astoundingly good. I took today??s shots at ISO 1000 but after their trip through LR you??d never know it. I??ve always shied away from using my camera (a Canon 40D) at its highest ISO setting of 3200 but I may now try it again. I hasten to add I??m not being paid to say any of this (I wish I was!) but if any of you often find yourselves using high ISOs and cursing the noisy pictures that result it??s well worth a try.
