From minstrel to musician

The recorder quintet Fontanella gave a concert at the summer school this evening, titled ??From minstrel to musician??, featuring music from the reigns of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I. For much of the programme they used a set of specially made recorders by the English maker, Adrian Brown. I took a few photos during the concert but at the interval I made a beeline for their recorders to take some arty shots of them. They??ve suffered a little from being taken at ISO 1600 but I was so take with these beautiful instruments that I couldn??t resist posting them.

So gorgeous, Helen! Love the brass ring and carvings around the mouth piece and the warm color of the woods. Before our children played in the school bands, they started by playing recorders!!

Neat shots. I like the ones with the brass rings around.
