Gracie was lazing around on the bed this afternoon so I decided to grab the opportunity to take her photo for Caturday. This is the first shot I took and, rather miraculously, despite the fact that it was taken at a shutter speed of 1/15 of a second it was the sharpest one I took!

This shot was taken with my latest photographic acquisition ?? a Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens I bought second hand when I was in Cheltenham on Friday. I??d been contemplating buying this lens for some time as it becomes the equivalent of a 50mm lens (well, 48mm for the pedants among you) on my crop sensor camera. I??ve been saving up a small amount each month and putting it in a separate ??lens fund?? so I was delighted to discover this particular lens within my budget. I??m looking forward to taking that huge aperture out for a stroll very soon ?? as you will no doubt have noticed I??m rather fond of using a shallow depth of field!

I'm looking forward to see the results of the new lens... shallow depth of field often make picures very interesting! Besides, this is a great photo, and a very sweet cat!
