A solitary candle

While I was in Chichester this afternoon I decided to take my camera and new 30mm lens for a stroll around the Cathedral to try and get a feel for its capabilities. I received the usual ??Not you again?!? comment from one of the Vergers, who are used to me popping armed with a camera, but that didn??t deter me. This was my favourite shot ?? one of the prayer candles lit by visitors in front of the high altar. The colours behind are from the vivid altar tapestry which was designed by John Piper for the Cathedral in 1966.

The way you've made this picture, the choice of the angle, your choice of aperture, the colorful background, ... everything fascinates me. ;)

Lovely style to this and I would love to see a photo of the tapestry too or have you already posted one of it?

That's a wonderfully rich background. The solitary candle invites the imagination.
