Seaside jaunt

My friend Moira took me to Great Yarmouth today for a good old fashioned seaside jaunt. It came up in conversation over the summer that I??d never been there so she promised to show me the town??s highlights when I came to stay with her this weekend. Yarmouth is a typical Victorian seaside resort ?? sandy beach, a long seafront and, these days, the obligatory arcades and fun fairs. Today was pretty blustery and grey so I didn??t perhaps see the promenade at its best but we had great fun nonetheless! We started off with a fish and chip lunch followed by a walk along what is left of the pier. I found the two monochrome images here ?? the first is a bendy seaside bench while the second features the posts that remain where the pier would once have extended out into the sea.

We finished off our afternoon in one of the arcades where we spent a silly hour playing on the slot machines. We restricted ourselves to the machines which took only 2 pence pieces and I was on such a lucky streak that I found it almost impossible to lose ?? I kept winning back the money I put in the machines and more! I also won the cute little fellow in my third picture ?? a little blue and purple spotted toy cat who has, of course, been christened Yarmouth in honour of our girls?? day out. It was such fun and I never knew putting a couple of pounds-worth of coppers into slot machines could be so entertaining!

Wow, I really like #1. The angle is great. I also like the composition in #2 and even though the day was overcast, you got some great depth there.
