Childhood collections

Two of my fellow Photobloggers, Jon [photoblog.com] and Ricky [photoblog.com], have recently posted photos of things they collect and it got me thinking this might be a good subject for a rainy day such as today. When I was a child my grandmother lived in Norfolk so I didn't get to see her very often. Instead she used to send me lots of letters, which I??ve still got somewhere, and from time to time she would send me badges which I used to collect. I had particularly fond memories of these ones which, judging by their designs, were evidently distributed by her local library. Miraculously I still knew exactly where they were! I spent ages trying to line these up exactly so they formed a perfect square but I haven??t quite succeeded. However this shot, my best attempt, will have to do as I have a pile of apples awaiting my attention before we go out tonight!

My grandma used to save the points on the Robertson jam for us to receive a badge. I had a lot of them on my school blazer lapels.
Thanks for this nice memory of yours took me back too.

Wonderful and bright post, Helen. I love your badges - and I love books! I love books as gifts. I'm not a collector of anything - now I wish I were!!

I remember these...I think it was a bit past my childhood, but my sister had them. Its a great shot and looking at the faint shadows (which add to the shot) they look pretty lined up to me.
Off to see if I can find a collection.... ooooh I have an idea

May I ask if you are still collecting it?

      Great badges.
Yes the lining up problem - it's far more difficult than you'd think. Yesterday I spent ages - just when I thought I was getting there the cat walked across them and knocked them out of place. I gave up. You've done remarkably well with yours though.
