The animals came in two by two

While I was at the Natural History Museum yesterday I visited the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition (I can??t recommend it highly enough if you??re able to visit) and it inspired me to use my last day of holiday to visit the British Wildlife Centre again today. When I was there in June quite a few babies had recently been born but most had yet to venture out from their nests. Today they were very much up and about and they all seemed to come in twos ?? just like Noah??s Ark! As ever the foxes were wonderful and I spent ages photographing the Scottish Wild Cats. I had a little more luck with the red squirrels in their walk through enclosure this time. Since June they??ve become much braver and on several occasions I found a squirrel climbing up my leg, using it as a short cut to its favourite vantage point!

This was the best I could do with the red squirrels - they move so quickly!

The foxes just know how to pose well for the camera!

The two Scottish Wild Cat kittens were just adorable.

Don't you just hate it when you get an itch?!

Mother and kitten

A moment of togetherness.

Kendra, the kittens' mother.

Not my sharpest shot ever but I couldn't resist posting this one!

This was the first time I'd seen the polecat out and about - he posed very obligingly.

There were actually three otter cubs but these two stopped together just long for me to capture them.

Very well done! I've never even been that close to a squirrel, they ARE so fast. What a fun set!

Wonderful set. I had a grey fox pass through my yard once, but did't have the camera with me. Wonderful captures!!

This is an absolutely great set, Helen! The markings on the animals are perfectly captured and presented - love the cats and the squirrel, but the fox is super! I put #4 in my faves. (You didn't have to lie down on your mother's floor to photograph this fox, did you?)
