The Tuesday Inspiration: Frosty delights

I really wondered how I was going to tackle today??s TI theme as I have virtually no time to get out and about on a Tuesday. As many of my examples of today??s theme are hundreds of miles away this left me in a quandary. However, an absent pupil meant I had time to visit this tree at Goodwood between bouts of teaching. Many of you will remember I have featured this tree on my blog several times before and it definitely falls into the category for today??s theme. The light this morning had been beautiful but my heart sank as it got darker and murkier as I drove north towards Goodwood. However, when I reached the top of the hill I realised the lower temperature at that altitude had preserved a beautiful hoare frost on the trees (something we rarely get round here) and I suddenly felt more optimistic about getting a decent photo. I decided the stark shapes and the frost on the ground would make for a good monochrome image and I used a large aperture (f2.5) to throw the foreground out of focus and draw the eye to the tree. It??s a treatment I??ve not used on this tree before and I quite like the effect.
Thanks to Lynda [photoblog.com] for setting today??s theme. Last Tuesday??s theme was ??Peace??. The other interpretations of this week??s theme can be found here [photoblog.com].
The ??Tuesday Inspiration? began in 2009 when Stefan [photoblog.com] and I started setting each other a photographic challenge on a? Tuesday. Very soon afterwards, we decided to open this up to other PB members, followed by the idea that we should not reveal what the subject is, so that other members could compare how different members view a single theme. The Tuesday Inspiration is not a contest or a challenge, but a group of people all agreeing to post their interpretation of a single theme on Tuesdays. Each week, one of the contributors sets the theme. There are now over 40 members contributing to the TI. We have only two ??rules?: don??t include the subject in the TI title or tags and please comply with standard PB guidelines on courtesy, etc. If you would like to take part, please send me a message via this blog.
