Elizabethan splendour

On my way home from Somerset this afternoon I passed Longleat, the magnificent Elizabethan house which is home to the Marquess of Bath and the Longleat Safari Park. I??d never been there before so I thought I??d try my luck and see how far I could get into the grounds before someone demanded money from me. It was 5 o??clock by the time I got there and the entrance kiosks were all locked up so I continued past them and found I could get all the way to the car park and the house for free ?? result! I had a little look around (although I wasn??t brave enough to take my car through the safari park ?? I didn??t like the idea of the monkeys puling bits off it!) and managed to catch some photos of the main facade of the house without anyone cluttering up the picture before I continued my journey home.

Lovely picture, it looks very nice in b&w. It is crazy to think that was someone's home!

You're such a rebel, Helen! But the result is exquisite! Such incredible architecture and history in this single image! Thanks for sharing.
