The Goodwood Festival of Speed has continued today so I decided to try and get some better photos of the Red Arrows' [raf.mod.uk]daily display, armed this time with my long lens. I figured that the best vantage point would be the Trundle [en.wikipedia.org], a hill overlooking Goodwood and the highest point on this part of the South Downs. Several hundred other people had the same idea as me and it was very busy when I reached the summit. However, I managed to find a free spot on the edge of the hill, set up my camera and waited. We certainly weren??t disappointed ?? we could see them coming from miles away and had a fabulous view of all their daring manoeuvres. Even better, on several occasions individual planes from the team came roaring directly over our heads, so close it felt like you could almost reach out and touch them! After today??s success I??m going to go back tomorrow afternoon and try my hand photographing the Vulcan bomber when it comes over. Watch this space!
