Self Portrait (theme)

Like many photographers, I??d rather be behind the lens than in front of it but, having missed several themes recently, I was determined to participate in this one. I had the perfect spot chosen, a little niche in the ancient brick wall around the Bishop??s Palace Gardens in Chichester. However, when I got there I found two giggly teenage girls sitting on a nearby bench, watching my every move so I decided not to make a fool of myself there and went in search of an alternative. I eventually found a quiet spot up on the city walls where I could set up my tripod and experiment with different framings. The extra altitude proved something of a challenge as the stiff breeze kept wafting my hair around, although the stray hairs were easily fixed with a little cloning. I also encountered a couple taking a stroll who offered to take my photo for me when I said I was taking a self portrait. I thanked them and politely declined, although I didn??t point out that it would somewhat defeat the object of the exercise if they clicked the shutter!

Other self portraits can be found here [].

Great photo! I to love to be behind the camera not in front! I think it took my husband 10 tries to get one good one of me? Looks like it was a beautiful day and the lighting is just right!! Great shot!

Lovely shot, good to see the person behind the camera in front of the camera for a change... I had pictured you with blonde hair... don't know why!

This is lovely. Everyone knows what I look like as I'm self portrait obsessed! it is very exciting to get to put a face to the usually invisible photobloggers. Love the setting and the way it is composed is more like a photograph that you happen to have put yourself in than a self portrait to me. Off to look at the others now.
