The decisive moment

Today??s photos aren??t what I originally imagined I would shoot today. My intention was to take some architectural photos of Exeter Cathedral but I was foiled by a rock band that was setting up and doing sound checks for a concert this evening. After taking a few fairly unsatisfactory shots of architectural details I decided to take a leaf out of Henri Cartier-Bresson??s book and see if I could capture some decisive moments in the life of the people of Exeter. I found that by using my nifty-fifty lens I could go reasonably unnoticed and by sitting on some of the city??s many benches with my camera on my lap I could use the live view function to focus without it looking like I was even taking a photo! I found quite a few characters and scenes to shoot in the High Street and the more photos I shot the more I realised I had the makings of an interesting collection to reflect the comings and goings in Exeter on a sunny Friday afternoon.
