Lucy's Himalayan cousins

I decided to make the most of my day off today with a trip to Marwell Zoo [marwell.org.uk] to see the Snow Leopard cubs who were born there this summer. When I first arrived they were nowhere to be seen but by the time I returned this afternoon two of the cubs were up and about and very happy to pose for my camera. They seemed very intrigued by all their visitors and proved to be particularly good at looking straight into my lens with complete concentration. I wonder what Lucy would make of her Himalayan cousins? They??re certainly a good deal bigger than her and, even at only six months old, these youngsters have paws about six time the size of Lucy??s!

One cub was sitting high up on a rock watching the world go by.

Dad was taking it easy round the back of the enclosure.

Cub no.2, looking rather pensive.

Look at the size of those paws!

Time for an afternoon nap.

Beautiful images. Can't say that I like zoos but I know these days some of them do valuable preservation/conservation work. These are delightful shots and such brilliant results for such a high ISO... I remember a time when these would have been a grainy mess.

Oh my goodness, they are just gorgeous! Love the expression you caught in #2! I think it's a good thing for Lucy to stay home when you go visit them!!
