Weathered beauty (theme)

On my way to a meeting this afternoon I stopped off at the church in Wickham in search of an interesting door to shoot for today??s theme. I wasn??t disappointed ?? the west door of the church was wonderfully weathered and was just crying out for a high contrast black and white treatment. I was intrigued by the keyhole ?? I??ve never seen one so enormous on any door. It must have been fives inches tall and an inch wide. I can only imagine the size of the key that fits it and the size of the draught which it must let into the church!

An absolutely magnificent series of details and textures... We imagine the sensation of the wood and the metal...
I like the small cobweb in the keyhole :)

What a lovely gnarly old door, I've always fancied getting a big old iron studded door for our front door, but I fear it may look odd on a 1950's semi detached box.. I also fancy getting a gargoyle to glower at our miserable neighbours from the roof of our conservatory, but James won't let me...
