Opening night

Having discovered that there was to be an air display at Goodwood today as part of the preview for this weekend??s Racing Revival I headed up there with my camera this evening and found a good vantage point just outside the track. When I arrived there was a family already there, hoping to see the aircraft, and we spent a happy half hour chatting as we waited for the display to start. Around 6pm we heard the unmistakable sound of a Spitfire and a Mustang taking off and started scanning the skyline for their outlines. For a while the planes stayed quite a distance away from us but our patience was rewarded towards the end as they flew right towards us and straight over our heads. With the sun dropping lower in the sky the light was simply wonderful and it meant the aircraft were beautifully illuminated at times ?? if only it was possible to shoot in such light all the time!

Fearless Frankie gets around, he was flying at an airshow at Southport last weekend (see Armogeddon's post for yesterday)... you were incredibly lucky, the lighting was perfect, and you got some spectacular shots!

Images of a perfect and chosen geometry, which you know how to make light
