The Jaguar E-Type, fifty two years on....

Kevin and I were lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the new Jaguar F-Type this evening at Goodwood House. The F-Type seems to have been the worst kept secret for months prior to its official launch. I saw one on the road last July, admittedly it was covered in camouflage but it did have a great big sign on the back bumper saying www.ftype.com [ftype.com] so they evidently weren't that keen on keeping it a secret! This evening's launch was a most enjoyable event - copious amounts of bubbly, tasty canapés, a speech from Olympic hurdler Sally Gunnell (who is also a local girl and a Jag driver) and, of course, the ceremonial unveiling of the new car. As it happens I took barely any useable photos of the F-Type as the light had all but gone by the time it was unveiled and there were people swarming around them all night. However, I was luckier with one of the gorgeous E-Types they also had on display and we had a very pleasant chat with her owners, Frances and John. In spite of my lack of successful photos the F-Type itself is a beautiful car and I'm sure, for those with at least £60,000 to spare, it drives beautifully!

I hadn't planned to convert my photos of this beautiful E-Type to black and white but there red lighting under the canopy created a very odd effect and rather distracted the eye from it's exquisite lines.

Kevin had to find out if the driver's seat fitted him, even if we do need to win the lottery before we can buy one!

Red was the colour theme of the evening, and that even included the rather elegant cupcakes!

Of course the Jaguar's British heritage was on show too, with Union Jack paper bags and red, white and blue jelly beans to go inside them!

Such beautiful elegant cars... sigh! The F-type is pretty, but not quite in the same class as the E-type

Oh Great, brings back memories of an old boss who would offer me a lift in his pink e type to see me struggle to get in, in a tight knee length skirt...impossible without flashing underwear as you probably know. Love the angle on no1 .
