New growth

by Helen Hooker July. 29, 2013 5289 views

I spotted these young leaves sneakily growing out from the trunk of a maple tree as I wandered back from my pre-breakfast walk today. I was struck by the way the breeze was moving the canopy above, creating different lighting effects on the leaves and throwing shadows in different directions. I took a number of frames over the course of a few minutes and I felt this particular one had the most effective combination of light and shade.

Ah, a very hard effect to capture. Unfortunately, without your commentary, I would have thought you used a flash!
