Folly Fabrics is open for business!

My friends Sharon and Andrew finally opened their new shop, Folly Fabrics, in Bampton on Friday. Sadly I wasn't able to get to the grand opening so I paid them a visit this morning as I passed by on my way through to Gloucestershire. The shop has filled up very nicely since I popped by almost a month ago and the shelves were full to bursting with colourful fabrics and yarns. Sadly Pippin, their Head of Security, was having the day off so he couldn't pose for a photo but I found plenty of other interesting things to shoot around the shop.

I know some of my more local Photoblog friends were interested to know more about the shop so if you'd like to visit you can find Folly Fabrics [follyfabrics.co.uk] at the Old Bakery, Rosemary Lane, Bampton, Oxfordshire. OX18 2NF. If you pop in to see Sharon, Andrew and Pippin please do say I sent you!

When you walk into the shop you're greeted by a riot of colour in the front room….

….and the back room is home to a wall of yarn! Sharon is planning to start running craft courses in the shop in the new year.

Who knew that fabric could come in so many beautiful colours and patterns? One of the ranges Sharon is stocking is based on designs used in the TV drama Downton Abbey which is filmed in the village of Bampton.

One of Sharon's friends made this striking hat.

Threads in every colour of the rainbow

Some more of the beautiful fabric designs

Lots of buttons! I was very tempted to buy one of these button jars but resisted….. on this occasion, at least!

Yarn in a multitude of colours and textures

I found this beauty adorning the windowsill in the back room

They even offer great coffee - what more could a customer ask for?!
