The stories these walls could tell....

Kevin and I went for a little exploratory drive this afternoon and happened upon the church in the village of Clavering. I'm used to churches being chilly but I could swear the church of St. Mary and St. Clement was even colder inside than outside - and the exterior temperature was barely above freezing as it was! Not to be deterred, we had a look around inside and I found lots of interesting photographic subjects, one of which as a very aged chest. When I showed it to Kevin he mused about the stories it could no doubt tell - hence the title for today's post. I'm always careful in such places to look upwards as well as around me and that proved to be very fruitful here as there are lots of beautiful carvings on the ceiling. I only photographed one today (which I did so by lying on a pew!) but I have a feeling I'll be back (perhaps on a warmer day) to explore Clavering church more thoroughly.
